An Expression of Interest is being sought from CEOs of small, medium and large businesses, industries and organisations to be part of a Workplace Accreditation Pilot Project with White Ribbon.
Building on and recognising current and emerging initiatives, the White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Pilot seeks to recognise and accredit workplaces that are taking active and effective steps to end violence against women.
Violence against women– whether it occurs in or beyond the workplace – impacts on the health and safety of women at work, their wellbeing and their productivity. It may also impact negatively on the reputation of the organisation and the bottom-line.
Domestic and family violence is conservatively estimated to directly cost employers over $484 million per annum. This is in addition to violence which takes place within the workplace, which according to a Victorian study, impacts on 62.1 per cent of women. Australian workplaces can proactively reduce these statistics, absenteeism and the loss of productivity in their workforce.
The White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Pilot aims to support workplaces to prevent and respond to violence against women by asking organisations to take steps to promote safe workplaces for women by adapting organisational cultures, practices and procedures.
Pilot organisations will be asked to register for the Accreditation Project, to evaluate the effectiveness of the standards, training and self-assessment, and to assist White Ribbon in refining the process in advance of a full Accreditation Program launch.
Participation in the pilot is free of charge. The pilot commences July 2012 and will be completed by December 2013.
To register your interest in participating in the Pilot, or for more information, register your interest, send an email to workplaces@whiteribbon.org.au or call 02 9045 8444.
