On Thursday, 4 August, the South Western Sydney Region held their 5th Annual Ambassadors for Public Education Forum. The Forum celebrated the Public Education Ambassador Program and the efforts of 249 student Ambassadors throughout the Region. These students were selected as Ambassadors for their:
- adherence to the values of public education;
- leadership;
- advanced communication skills; and
- ongoing contribution to the school community.
In recognition of the correlation between the Public Education Ambassador Program’s principles and White Ribbon’s principles, White Ribbon was invited to attend and speak at the morning and evening receptions.

White Ribbon Ambassador Mario Fenech spoke to students in the morning about his involvement in the White Ribbon Campaign and the importance of leadership, respect and non-violent relationships. The students were excited to meet Mario, with many getting an autograph and picture with the NRL star.
In the evening White Ribbon CEO Libby Davies spoke to an audience of 1000 students and parents about White Ribbon’s work and White Ribbon’s 1400 strong Ambassador Program. This followed an address by Mr Adrian Piccoli, Minister for Education, who highlighted the importance of Ambassadors in leading social change.
The Forum was also attended by Tom Urry, Regional Director of South Western Sydney and Jason Clare MP, Member for Blaxland and Minister for Employment.
Thank you to NSW DEC South Western Sydney for including White Ribbon in this inspiring event.
