White Ribbon Round and Rave

27 August 2011

On 27th August, Port Noarlunga Football Club in South Australia ran a 'White Ribbon Round' at all SFL games over the weekend with 2,500 players and officials taking part.

Over 500 people in the crowd plus officials wore white ribbons on the day and the team wore white armbands to show their support. The main part of the day was a Swearing Ceremony with Local and Federal members of parliament and officials speaking on the work that is still to be done to change attitudes in communities, followed by Brian Lynch then leading the Oath. Several community groups also shared their work on the day, including the Coalition for Men Supporting Non-Violence.

At half time, organiser and White Ribbon Ambassador Tod Stokes arranged an aerial paragliding display! Tod comments 'the day was a huge success and like we did last year, we will be doing it again next year. Next year my aim is to organize other associations to get involved like our local SANFL as an ambassador I think events like this really help change those attitudes in society and we at Port Noarlunga will be continuing to do whatever we can to help with the cause'

Thank you Tod for your amazing efforts.
