Allan believes authentic community, stakeholder and third-party engagement can help Australians better understand the challenges of violence towards women, and how to best engage men and boys in the process of cultural change.
He has previously worked for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as the National Director Rural and Remote, Director SA & NT Community Engagement and at SA Health as the Director of Consumer and Community Engagement. During his formative years, he also worked as a mental health clinician in forensic Child and Adolescent Health Services, Local Government and in Not-For-Profit organisations.
Over the last decade, Allan has gained invaluable experience in frontline service delivery to assist women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. He has also led executive management in health and Government environments to support the voice of people with lived experience.
Allan has a strong connection with White Ribbon Australia as a former Ambassador and was instrumental in the NDIA becoming a
White Ribbon Accredited Workplace. He also has a strong track record working within the IAP2 framework for community engagement and has played a key role in delivering significant policy changes in children, youth and women's health services.
Allan has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of South Australia and a Graduate Diploma of Management. He also undertook an Executive Excellence Program with the Premier of South Australia and 40 other South Australian executives.
Over his career, Allan has served on several health community boards, particularly within the LGBTIQ community. His dedication and service to the public has been acknowledged with numerous accolades, including being named the 2017 Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) SA Branch Social Worker of the Year (Leading the Way), the 2017 Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON) Business Transformation Leader of the Year and was recognised as Channel 9’s Young South Australian of the Year for his work in community engagement.
