Media and Communications Specialist
John is a commercially astute communications and public relations professional with 25-plus years’ proven success building brand, program and service awareness for a diverse range of public and private sector organisations.
An engaging storyteller, he is adept in all facets of media relations, social networking, campaign strategy and content development.
John also considers himself to be a partnership builder, who excels at forging sustainable networks and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. His background in journalism has allowed him to build a strong network of business, media and online contacts.
He has previously worked in a similar role at Uniting WA and prior to that spent 11 years as an Account Manager at Professional Public Relations working with a diverse range of clients across not-for-profits, large corporations, government agencies and retailers.
This included a consultancy role with Communicare, where he orchestrated a national media campaign to raise awareness about the Breathing Space men’s behaviour change program and advocate for this model to be established nation-wide.
In 2017, he was seconded to lead a major social media awareness and education campaign for the University of Adelaide's 'B Part of It' program, the world's largest Meningococcal B Herd Immunity Study involving all senior secondary school students across South Australia.
Throughout his career John has been a key-note speaker at business events, digital conferences,
public relations forums and universities. He is also a keen writer and social commentator.
