"Brad, tonight was fantastic. I stayed until the end it was such a good discussion. You were great. I know Kristine from her days at Our Watch, so it was good to see her on the panel. Great work!" – Rosie Batty

Last Thursday night we were joined by 650 of our supporters from across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland for our fourth webinar, "Men, Sex and Violence".

There was an incredible volume of commentary during the webinar in the Zoom chat and on social media, which is not surprising given the issue of violence, harassment and disrespect of women in Australian culture is so prominent on the national agenda.

Our panellists, journalist, columnist and consultant Kristine Ziwica, Psychologist and Movember's Director of Mental Health Training Dr. Zac Seidler, gendered violence and sexual exploitation expert Professor Michael Salter and our own Brad Chilcott, were animated, forthcoming and very frank about the current socio-political landscape.

A captioned recording of the webinar is available on our YouTube channel, watch it here.

As the events at Parliament House in recent weeks have highlighted, we've got a long journey ahead of us to change the culture of male entitlement that preferences men's desires, ambitions and opinions over those of women.

Australia deserves better leadership and Australian women deserve the right to feel safe in their places of work. It's simply not good enough that we still live in a society where women can be rightly afraid of men's harassment, violence and abuse.

Tomorrow marks the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, so stay tuned for updates on our involvement in this annual campaign to prevent sexual violence.

At White Ribbon Australia, we know it will require all of us, working community by community, workplace by workplace, school by school to create a future free from all forms of men's violence and abuse.

The standard that we walk by is the standard that we choose to accept; we can be and should be part of the change.
