LEADAS White Ribbon Dinner & Breakfast

29 November 2018 - 30 November 2018

6:30 pm - 8:00 am
Amaroo School, 135 Katherine Avenue, Amaroo, Australian Capital Territory, 2914

The ‘LEADAS’ program is based upon the values of Leadership, Engagement, Academics, Development, Athletics & Service.
One of the core parts of the program is its alignment to the White Ribbon initiative, an institution that we, as a group, highly value and actively support.
We do a number of White Ribbon themed events throughout the year including sporting games with other schools and peer led training sessions, but undoubtedly one of the highlights of the year is the ‘White Ribbon Dinner’
At this event the young men invite women in their lives they would like to honour, women they would like to make amends with, or women of standing in the community. The boys prepare the venue, cook a meal, serve their guests and clean up afterwards. As well as being a great, fun event it also holds significant power in the building of relationships and the potential breaking down of stereotypes and gender based barriers. The young men then stay overnight at the school with White Ribbon guest speakers and participate in positively themed activities. In the morning they invite a ‘father figure’ in their lives to a BBQ breakfast to discuss what they experienced and celebrate their success before leading the school’s White Ribbon themed assembly and oath.
