Shining the light to stop violence against women

28 July 2017

6:00 am - 11:30 pm
Police Headquarters, 100 Angas Street, Adelaide, South Australia, 5000

In order support the White Ribbon campaign SAPOL is projecting a visual representation of the White Ribbon Night message ‘Have a night in to get the word out’ together with the White Ribbon logo onto Police Headquarters (PHQ) building between 1800 and 2359 hours on Friday 28 July 2017.

Specialist DV prosecutors and Call Centre staff are physically located in PHQ which is staffed 24/7 by sworn and unsworn SAPOL members who provide the first point of contact for victims. The aim of this initiative is to highlight the nexus between victims of domestic violence who in times of personal emergency, may call on police services such as Call and Communications Centres staff or specialist areas such as Family Violence Investigation Sections and specialist Domestic Violence prosecutors.

Staff working in these areas will be participating in White Ribbon Night events and fundraising in order to raise awareness of domestic violence and the role of police in supporting victims and holding offenders accountable.
