Ambassador Q&A: Drew Wagner

Drew Wagner
July 2016

White Ribbon Ambassador Drew Wagner shares with us how he shares the White Ribbon message everyday to his workplace with pride.

What is your day job?

I am the Executive Director, Minerals Council of Australia, NT Division.

How long have you been a White Ribbon Ambassador?

I have been a White Ribbon Ambassador for 12 months.

Why did you decide to become an Ambassador?

I became a White Ribbon Ambassador because this is something I have felt very passionate about for a very long time. As a father of two daughters, and being in a position that has a public profile on behalf of my industry, it was a natural conclusion to my beliefs and way of life.

In what ways have you been involved in the White Ribbon Campaign?

Though slow to start, I have been promoting White Ribbon’s ideals and beliefs whenever I get a chance, both publically and privately, especially throughout my industry. I wear my White Ribbon Ambassador pin with pride any chance I get – even at GARMA over the last 5 days – and it is a good conversation starter to then share the ideals and beliefs of White Ribbon.

Why is Gender Equality important to you as an Ambassador?

I work in what was (and to a certain extent still is) a very male dominated industry. Therefore it gives me the perfect platform alongside my role as a White Ribbon Ambassador together with our organisation’s gender equality initiatives, including our Women In Resources programmes for which I have championed.

What goals do you hope to accomplish as an Ambassador in the future?

As a White Ribbon Ambassador, I hope to become increase my involvement in the movement, and to continue to spread White Ribbon’s message to stand up for what I believe is right
