What is the White Ribbon Youth Advisory Group?

This Youth Advisory Group (YAG) advises and supports White Ribbon Australia and the wider social movement to prevent men’s violence against women and effectively engage young people in prevention activities.

The 10-12 member YAG meets regularly online and face-to-face throughout the year to advise White Ribbon Australia on strategic projects and proposals. The YAG also has the power to develop and implement a new youth focused initiative each year.  Applicants are sought from across Australia and young people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences are encouraged to apply.

 

Meet the YAG

Who is eligible to apply?

Any young person aged 15 to 24 at the time of appointment who is living in an Australian state or territory may apply*. Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in promoting gender equality and the positive role young people can play in the prevention of men’s violence against women.

*Candidates who are turning 25 years old after 1 July the following year are still welcome to apply, noting that they will only be part of the YAG for 1 year.

What is required of me?

YAG members are expected to commit a minimum of 48 hours across a 12 month period, including attendance and active participation in at least 3 meetings throughout the year. Meetings will be held in person and online to discuss and evaluate White Ribbon Australia’s projects and proposals.
